Artist Statement

“Concrete Couture” uncovers the unexpected elegance hidden in the urban landscape, treating concrete as fabric—creased, weathered, and patterned by time. The originals, printed on linen and velvet, transform rough, overlooked surfaces into tactile couture, elevating what is not obviously beautiful. In this dialogue between city and material, grit and grace coexist, revealing the poetry embedded in everyday textures.

The series invites viewers to slow down and see the marvelous in the mundane. From creating surreal moments of splendor set on asphalt terrain, to capturing cracks and worn surfaces on the forgotten floor, these images trace the passage and persistent markers of life lived. Shaped by my experience in Los Angeles, the work reflects a philosophy that beauty is not always grand or polished—it often emerges quietly, layered within the ordinary, waiting to be recognized.

At its core, “Concrete Couture” is a meditation on contrast and coexistence. The city—glamorous and gritty, chaotic and serene—becomes a couture house, its surfaces draped in stories of time and experience. By framing concrete as couture, the work transforms the urban world into an evolving artwork, one that dresses, shapes, and reveals its beauty only to those who look closely.
